The Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association is exhibiting a fine collection of local artist’s work next door to us at the Monterey Maritime and History Museum. This juried art exhibit shows over 35 paintings from 29 artists, including 2 of our own. Mary Kay King and Maria Boisvert are favorites at Christopher Bell Gallery. Our interest in art made from nature has connected us with a remarkable artist of fine glass and mineral boxes. Greg Wooten’s reputation is world-wide. He shapes each box to the peculiarities of the hand-selected minerals. Ocean Jasper, Agate, Astrophylite, Eudialite…Small stained glass panes become the sides of the box, and Greg finishes with a mirrored interior base. Glenn Heath joins us Saturday, June 21 with his new inimitable, whimsical drawings and sparkling wit. We are excited to see him return to the medium that launched his art career. We will have exclusive pen and ink and color originals and some of his signed historic prints as well. Come share the fun!
